Seth Shostak is an American astronomer, currently Senior Astronomer and Director, Center for SETI Research.

Our convo starts with Seth sharing a little about how he got into science as a kid and SETI’s (Search for Extra-Terrestrial Intelligence) history. We then learn more about the science of astronomy and the process of searching for extra-terrestrial life. A very exciting peek into the forefront of research and a glimpse of what lies ahead for us in this great episode!

In 1994, former NYPD officer Michael Dowd was convicted of narcotics conspiracy, he was considered one of the dirtiest cops in New York City history. As an officer in East New York’s violent 75th Precinct, for nearly a decade, Dowd and his partner Kenneth Eurell shook down dealers, protected local drug lords, and eventually dealt cocaine themselves.

Rusty Young (born 1975) is an Australian-born writer known for his book, Marching Powder, published in 2003, and based on real life experiences in a Bolivian prison. He’s a commerce/law graduate from the University of New South Wales, who has lived most of his life in Sydney, Australia.

In this podcast, we initially get to know a little more about Rusty’s background before we delve a little more into how he went about writing and eventually publishing Marching Powder. We get a glimpse on his knowledge in the Bolivian prison drug trade and capturing the story while in a prison. Finally we also get a sneak peek on what's happening in his upcoming book Colombiano!

Our guest for Ep 27, Michael Cazayoux, has been coaching and competing in CrossFit for many years now and has won the CrossFit Games as part of one of the sports greatest ever teams, Hack's Pack. Michael also has eleven years of Olympic and powerlifting experience. He has several coaching certifications and is currently the CEO of Brute Strength Training in LA.

Into the podcast, our crew learns a little more about Michael’s time in drug rehab prior to his journey in becoming an athlete and a coach. Then the conversation goes more into daily training duration and programming, then the differences between group workouts and individual workouts are highlighted. Col. Chris Hadfield has had an interest in flying early in life and has a breadth of experience from mechanical engineering, to basic flight training, jets, underwater NASA simulations and finally to space flights. He then lived aboard the International Space Station (ISS) as Commander of Expedition 35. We’re excited to hear more from him!

In this podcast, Chris talks about the experience of what it’s like to live for 5 months on the ISS, his preparation and thoughts moving into the journey. We also talk about the first tweet from outer space, the future, and his take on extraterrestrial life. A surprising guest comes in later into the pod as well!

Rob Whittaker is an Australian professional mixed martial artist of Māori descent currently competing in the Middleweight division of the Ultimate Fighting Championship. A professional MMA competitor since 2009, Whittaker was a contestant on the first installment of The Ultimate Fighter: The Smashes and won the Welterweight tournament. As of April 2016, he is #6 in the official UFC Middleweight rankings.

In this podcast, we delve a little more into Rob’s start in MMA, his strongest fighting style, and game plan inside the Octagon. The convo moves towards discussing his next opponent, Stephen Thompson and how he’s training for and adapting to the new division he’s in.
